Message From The Pastor
We believe that the door to salvation is always open and so are the doors to our church. Our mission is to be fully devoted to Jesus by opening our arms to those in search of the truth. We show God’s love and concern for our fellow man at every opportunity. Through works of charity and opening our doors to listen and love, we feel that we are walking in the footsteps of Jesus Christ.
Jeffrey Harris finds his greatest joy in serving his community and seeing lives transformed by the power of the Gospel.
He and his wife, Sandra, reside in his hometown of Maiden, North Carolina where he is the pastor at Friendly Chapel Baptist Church. Before taking on the role at Friendly Chapel Baptist in 2008, he was a fill-in pastor at various churches ranging from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Eastern part of North Carolina.
He was born to faithful Christian parents, Bobby Neal Harris and Virginia Abernathy Harris. He frequently accredits his desire to serve his community, as well as his success in the ministry, to the praying knees of his Father, Mother, and Grandmother.
After graduating from East Lincoln High School, he followed his desire to serve God at Columbia International University located in Columbia, South Carolina. With the motto of “To know Him and to make Him known”, he believes that the knowledge he gained from Columbia International University has aided him in teaching the good news of Jesus Christ through expository preaching.
Outside of his church duties, he is a highly active member of the Lincoln County community. He is currently serving as a board member for Christian Ministries as well as a proud member of the South Fork Baptist Association where he regularly leads the Baptist Men projects in and around the community. On any given Saturday, you will typically find him anywhere from handing out food to the homeless at the local soup kitchen or building a wheelchair ramp for a local elderly couple. His fervent passion for volunteering is admirable and is notably appreciated by the members of his community.
He is faithful to his church members where he prefers to have an “on-call” type of relationship with them. He is passionate about visiting his homebound members, showing up for members who are experiencing medical mishaps, as well as being a pillar for any and all members who need him, day or night.
His life verse is Galatians 2:20 "I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."
